Status: Restored

Our transmission sites at Dead River, Ishpeming (Cliffs Shaft), Champion, and Michigamme are operating normally at this time. The damaged fiber optic cable has been repaired and is fully operational again. We will continue to monitor the connection for any issues.

10/22/2026 @ 12:04 AM - The contractor just completed the splicing, and the fiber is operational now. We will continue to monitor the connection for any issues. 

10/21/2026 @ 8:52 PM - The contractor is still on site and is pushing to complete the repair this evening.

10/21/2026 @ 4:23 PM - We spoke with the contractor on site. They believe they will have the fiber repaired today. We will update as soon as we hear from them.

10/21/2026 @ 6:30 AM - The crew is back on site and working on service restoration.

10/20/2026 @ 5:58 PM - The crew is back on site and working on the additional repairs. 

10/20/2026 @ 11:00 AM - Additional supplies are required for the repair. The contractor is working on sourcing supplies from outside the area.

10/20/2026 @ 7:30 AM - The splicing crew is back on site and working on identifying other breaks in the line. 

10/19/2026 @ 3:50 PM - The splicing contractor has not provided an ETA.

10/19/2026 @ 10:38 AM - The splicing contractor has a crew on site to resume work. We do not have an ETA at this time.

10/18/2026 @ 5:00 PM - We do not have an ETA from the contractor working on the fiber splice. We will provide updates as we receive them.

10/17/2026 @ 5:00 PM - We are still seeing high latency on the sites, resulting in slow connection speeds.

10/17/2026 @ 12:00 PM - We do not have an update at this time, but we are looking at ways to reroute traffic to alleviate some of the burden on the backup service link.

10/17/2026 @ 9:10 AM - A contractor and crew have been secured to re-hang and splice the damaged fiber optic line. No ETA at this time.

10/16/2026 @ 7:16 PM - The primary fiber optic cable that provides service to these sites has been damaged in several locations. We are working to secure a contractor to repair the cable as quickly as possible. As a result, all sites are running on backup links.
