Michigan Broadband Services to acquire NMU’s Educational Access Network

We are excited to announce a major step forward for your high-speed internet service! Today,
the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees approved an agreement for Michigan
Broadband Services to acquire NMU’s Educational Access Network (EAN).

What This Means for You

• Zero Service Interruption: Your internet access remains unchanged, and there is no
  immediate action required on your part.
• Seamless Transition: Upon the final closing of the deal, the EAN and MBS teams will
  coordinate closely to ensure a completely smooth experience, with little to no effort
  required from you.
• Support Stays the Same: For any questions or service needs during this transition,
  continue relying on the same dedicated team at eansupport@nmu.edu or 906-227-2957.
• Price remains the same: MBS has no current plan to increase the cost of the service.

Looking Ahead: Expanded Coverage & Upgrades. This partnership brings exciting
enhancements to your digital experience. MBS brings resources and plans to upgrade the
network to a standalone 5G platform post-transition, expanding reliable, high-speed coverage
further throughout the Upper Peninsula.

directly into core priorities—including enrollment growth, academic programs, student success,
and campus facility modernization—while partnering with a proven provider that shares our
vision for expanding rural broadband across Michigan.
