Timeline (all times are EST):
03/14/2024 @ 11:16 AM - The team was able to get to the island and complete the repairs needed. The generators are functioning again with enough fuel to last for a few weeks. We will need one more trip to finish refueling.
03/13/2024 @ 10:34 AM - The team was able to get to the island and start replacing tanks. They will continue to work on getting as many tanks refilled as possible. Another trip to the island may be needed tomorrow.
03/10/2024 @ 2:01 PM - The team attempted to get to the island today. They were unable to make it due to the ice that is surrounding the island at this time. They will try again on Wednesday or Thursday when the winds look favorable to move the ice away from the island.
03/08/2024 @ 3:14 PM - We are working with a few local partners to get a boat to the island and fill the propane and/or repair the generators. This will be a difficult process as the boat and dock are stowed for the winter. We do not have an ETA yet. We will continue to post as we learn more.
03/08/2024 @ 7:51 AM - The solar system has charged the batteries enough to run the site. This is only temporary as the batteries do not have enough power to hold the site overnight.
03/07/2024 @ 7:59 PM - Our engineers believe the issue is power related. We are working on making a final determination and getting to the island. No ETA at this time.
03/07/2024 @ 6:33 PM - Automated systems are reporting that Granite Island is offline. Our engineers are working to determine the cause.
